It was in fact nearly 15 months. My Uncle Gordon, 2/12, was also present at both events. He was on USAT Meigs that came into Darwin Harbour the day before the bombing and was sunk during the bombing.
Our list of Centaur personnel shows Mark Jonassen, aged 45, was a steward, Merchant Navy Personnel. So he may well have been on AHS Manunda in Darwin on the day of the bombing. It is possible that Keith Pryor may remember him. I don’t have any record of a family contact associated with him.
