I am the grandson of William Aurther Warner who was killed on this ship. Interested in any one that is related or new him.
Hi Dean,
You are the first relative we have met for William Arthur Warner and we have only very basic information about him. He served in the Merchant Navy as assistant steward and was 43 at the time of his death. He was the son of Arthur and Elizabeth Reid Warner, and the husband of Helen Warner, of Watsons Bay NSW. He is remembered by name at the Sydney Memorial to the Missing at Rookwood NSW on Panel 10, and also on the Memorial at Point Danger, Coolangatta.
The Centaur Association would be pleased to welcome you as a member, and together we can honour your grandfather and try to discover more about him. Please contact me on jthomas.centaur@hotmail.com.
Hello, I’d very much like to be involved in this community. My great uncle was Allan Ludlow Petiford. Allan was married to Bobbie. They weren’t fortunate to have children, but adopted a son. As a bloodline relative i want to be a part of his history and share with my children. On the anniversary of this horrific e event. He was one of the lucky survivors. I have beautiful memories of my Uncle Ally.

I have been researching the Sydney’s loss for over 25 years and I will pass by
separate email a chapter of what I have written about the Centaur which may
interest you. It is Chapter 25 from ‘HMAS Sydney Revealed’ which is now in the
National Library. It is rather out of context when read alone but still may be of
some interest to you.
It is typical that Barbara Winter who wrote her book about the Sydney
mentions the Centaur several time especially the recovery of the Kormoran
survivors but does not cite the book on the Centaur by Chris Milligan and
John Foley.
